Biography

Sam Falconer creates intricate illustrations, rich with detail and vibrant characters.

Heavily influenced by science and nature, Sam has developed a strong presence with like-minded clients including Nature, New Scientist, The Royal Society of Chemistry, Scientific American, Science News and Wired magazine. In 2015 Sam was commissioned by the MIT Museum to rework their map designs for the general public.

More broadly Sam has been fortunate enough to work with clients including: BBC Focus, British Airways, British GQ, CNET, Computer Arts, Deustch Inc, Emirates, The FT, The Guardian, Harvard Magazine, The Independent, Intelligent Life, John Hopkins University, M & C Saatchi, National Geographic, Nautilus, New Statesman, Nokia, Ogilvy & Mather, Penguin Random House, Politico, Reader's Digest, Scholastic, SHOP, The Spectator, The Telegraph, The Times, Variety, The Washington Post, Which? and YouTube.

In 2014 Sam was featured in IdN magazine’s New Faces of Inspiration issue as one of ten leading illustrators in the editorial field.

Sam's largest book project to date, Flora: The Graphic Book of the Garden, was published in October 2017 with Aurum Press. Containing over 100 illustrations alongside words from the Chief Horticultural Advisor at the RHS, Guy Barter.

In April 2018 Sam presented his first solo exhibition, DEEP TIME, at the Coningsby Gallery, a series of 20 artworks inspired by key moments in the history of the universe, life and human development.
