Biography

Andrew Macgregor lives and works in London and his work spans illustration, paper sculpture and art direction.

After graduating with a BA Hons in Illustration at Middlesex University he went on to win his first commercial client in 2005. With his career blossoming he began illustrating for Miss Selfridge, which led to him producing large-scale works for their summer fashion press show at the Royal Academy. He soon followed his interest in working three-dimensionally and assisted fashion set designer Andy Hillman, working with clients such as We Are Replay, Vogue and The B Store creating large-scale sets, window displays and props. In recent years, his love for working with paper on a three-dimensional level has shown incredible results. His graphic style is built on his interest in people, nature, typography, pattern, colour and installation. His portfolio boasts clients such as Saatchi & Saatchi, The Guardian, GQ, Mazda and Uniqlo.

"Paper and cardboard is my material of choice nowadays and I have come to really appreciate its capacity to take any given form. It’s an incredibly flexible material that in recent years has taken centre stage in modern visual communication and its a privilege to be a part of that."

Clients include: Saatchi & Saatchi, The Guardian, GQ, Mazda, Uniqlo, Wired magazine, Oxfam, ASOS, Chopard, Lacoste, ODD, The Observer, Getty, Tim Walker & Hillman studio, Vogue, House magazine & American Express.

Exhibitions

TdLM Nonpareil
London Fashion Week Pop-Up Exhibition
Seven Dials

Andrew Macgregor collaborated with menswear brand Theatre de la Mode (TdLM) to create three awe-inspiring sculptures to capture the sprit of the brands best selling jackets.

Constructed by hand, using only paper and cardboard, these imaginative and intricate mega structures showcased Macgregor's phenomenal craftsmanship and creativity.

The sculptures were exhibited alongside the jackets in a pop-up exhibition during London Fashion Week.

Hark for Jaguar Shoes Collective
Old Shoreditch Station

Macgregor collaborated with Audrey Roger to create HARK, a 3D paper installation at The Old Shoreditch Station.

The exhibition featured handcrafted paper totems that played with two and three-dimensional pattern. The project was conceived out of their mutual appreciation for colour, shape and paper; they wanted to combine their knowledge, skills and inspirations to create an engaging environment for people to experience colour these elements in a different way.
