Sara Gironi Carnevale is an Italian illustrator “made and based” in Napoli, in the sunny South of Italy, where she lives with her husband and their two cats.
In 2014 she graduated in Communication & Graphic Design and, after a few years working in the advertising and design field, she finally decided to pursue her real passion and started her career as a full-time freelance illustrator.
Since 2016 she’s been making illustrations for magazines, newspapers, books, prints and campaigns for clients from all over the world.
She believes that part of her job as an artist is to contribute to the society we live in and has a strong propensity to scientific, political and current affairs issues, which she illustrates with vibrant colors and attention to details.
Even though digital is her medium, she’s still pretty “old school” when it comes to the creative process and likes to brainstorm on paper, writing down keywords and roughly sketching compositions and figures. Then she refines her sketches with Procreate and eventually move to Photoshop to create the final artwork.
She loves nature in all its forms and, aside illustration, she’s interested in biology, driven by her constant need to understand the world around her.
She’s also a runner, with one marathon and several half-marathon to her credit and hopefully many more to come.
