Max is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer based near Frankfurt a. Main, Germany. He received a diploma in graphic design from Hochschule Darmstadt in 2017. Ever since, he’s enjoyed creating smart and concept-driven artwork for album covers, gig posters, skateboards, merchandise, and more.
Influenced by the classic surrealists as well as retro science-fiction book covers, he likes to look below the surface of one-to-one visual translations, adding room for inference by wrapping his illustrations in the dense atmosphere of a surreal and melancholic parallel universe. His urge is to decipher what lies behind the obvious, and eventually to amplify this visually.
Max has worked with clients such as: Activision, BMW, Bonnaroo Arts+Music Festival, DIE ZEIT, Elton John, EMPIRE Magazine, Folio Society, GLOBE Brand, GQ, Haydenshapes, Jägermeister, Pearl Jam, Penguin RandomHouse, Pixies, Porsche, The Economist, The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Who, Vans and Volcom.
