Having been Denver Teen Sailing Champion 1989, 1990 and 1991, Wesley Merrit traveled to England on a sport scholarship and studied at the University of Accrington, where he shifted his studies from History of Social Etiquette to Fine Art (& Collage). It was here he excelled. However, one year into his studies, a family death took him back to his native Colorado, and it would be several years before he returned to complete his degree. Having managed, and principally illustrated, the popular university paper Die Zapata, Die!, Merritt began working as a political cartoonist and a historical illustrator. He lives and works in Bacup.
