Peter Grundy is a designer and illustrator who in 1980 redefined the genre which today is known as Infographics.

In 1980 Peter set up Grundy & Northedge with Royal College of Art colleague Tilly Northedge. Information design was their mission, firstly because it was a totally un-glamorous area of the business which they thought they could change, and secondly because it was less about selling things and more about explaining things which seemed a lot more interesting.

In 1995 design journalist Hugh Aldersey-Williams wrote about Grundy & Northedge in Graphis 305,
‘The humble basic communication of information has never had the glamour of other areas of design. The creation of a poster casts the designer as an artist. Bringing into being corporate identity for some giant multinational company showcase the designer as a business strategist. But the design of a map for a housing project or a set of instructions for how to tie a bow tie - what sort of designer does jobs like these?

He was writing about Peter Grundy & Tilly Northedge.

When Tilly Northedge retired in 2006 , Peter Grundy carried on the work and renamed the studio ‘GRUNDINI’ with the intent of furthering the studios original mission of producing imaginative information design and illustration for clients who seek invention and imagination.
