Over the last years, Kim McGillivray has established an international reputation in illustration. Particularly known for his eye-catching book covers and editorial work, he has created a formidable portfolio serving many prominent clients in the UK and US. His distinctive style, utilising collage, photography, painting and digital techniques, has also been used for advertising and design applications. Kim's intention as an image maker has always been to communicate thought-provoking ideas and interpretations through an innovative and alternative aesthetic.
Graduating in 1992 from Edinburgh College of Art, Kim quickly established a consistent demand in editorial publishing. Titles to feature his work include: The Sunday Times, The Independent on Sunday, Reader's Digest, The Sunday Telegraph, The Sunday Herald and New Scientist Magazine. Besides covers and features illustrations, Kim has written and illustrated weekly satirical pieces for The Independent, Scotland on Sunday and The Scotsman.
Early press work subsequently led to commissions from Britain¹s leading book publishers, including: Penguin, Picador, Transworld, Orion, Canongate, Abacus, Headline, Egmont and Jonathan Cape. Kim has since created numerous covers, some for international best-sellers, and is now developing a similar track-record with American publishers, amongst them: Simon & Schuster, Penguin / Dial, Random House, Hyperion and Scholastic.
