Chris Price lives in St Johns Wood in London. Emerging with his memory intact from the 60s underground art scene, he has worked for every major newspaper and magazine in Britain apart from The Daily Mirror and The Sun. This includes a residency on The Observer, starting with John Lanchester and departing with Will Self, on the FT as illustrator for new fiction, as well as a large number of book jackets from Duncan Fallowell to Alberto Moravia and non-fiction from french dictionaries to books about native Americans. He has styled several large nightclubs and restaurants (including for the Rank organisation the VandA and Maxwells group), and has designed credits for the BBC. Recently, much of his work has been in fashion - the "Big Red Book" and special stories for Harpers Bazaar (Sydney),- in Britain, drawings for "Femail" in the Daily Mail and has styled the promotion of exclusive pairs of Italian shoes (for Zenobia of Milan). With the success of "In Biba" (collaborating with Barbara Hulanicki and his wife, Delisia Howard) he has published five illustrated volumes under his imprint "Hazard Books", very much in the tradition of the lavishly illustrated books of the early 20th century. Has written plays about artists and pulp paperbacks for the BBC and the Edinburgh Festival among others and continues to perform, as he believes that the art of illustration should spill out in all directions. His mission is to help to revive, by his work, the once pre-eminent graphic culture of Britain and to ensure that drawing, like language, retains its unique power to move and inspire.
